Cleghorn area farmer Tom Oswald is the new President of the Iowa Soybean Association. One of his organizational goals for the upcoming year is to continue to advance soil and water quality. In August his group teamed with Iowa Corn and Pork Producer groups to form the Iowa Ag Water Alliance and move forward on those environmental issues.
He says another priority is helping farmers be profitable despite the challenges they’re facing.
Oswald says another important issue for Iowa growers is farm to market roads and the need for upkeep. He says while no one likes increased taxes, some type of funding is needed to bring the state up to speed with road and bridge improvements.
