EU farmers is expected to harvest record volumes of rapeseed

Strategie Grains has increased its outlook for this year's rapeseed harvest in the European Union to a record level reflecting favourable weather.

In its monthly oilseed report, the analyst added 700,000 tonnes to its forecast to bring it to 22.5 million tonnes, now 6.6 percent higher than estimated 2013 production of 21.1 million tonnes.

Other forecasters also expect EU rapeseed output to reach 22 million tonnes for the first time after good growing conditions in major producing countries.

Rapeseed is the most widely grown oilseed crop in the EU and is used to make edible oil, biodiesel fuel and animal feed.
