Iowa Sets Biodiesel Production Record In 2013

Iowa Renewable Fuel Officials say Iowa biodiesel production was up 25 percent in 2013 setting a new record with production topping 230 million gallons. The previous record was in 2012 when 184 million gallons were produced.

Iowa Renewable Fuels Executive Director Monte Shaw says that robust production now has slowed down because of the lower RFS volume proposal and failure of Congress to pass the biodiesel tax credit.

Shaw says Iowa is in a good position to produce biodiesel because of all the feed stocks grown in the Hawkeye state.
