Fiji strives to meet 30 percent biofuels target set for 2015

THE people of Rabi are trying to uphold the Secretariat of the Pacific Communities' (SPC) dream of replacing normal fuel with biofuel by 30 per cent in the year 2015.

Rabi Council of Leaders director Marlie Rota said they had previously approached the Ministry of Energy for advice.

"We are closely working with the ministry as per the vision of SPC to replace fuel by 30 per cent with biofuel in 2015," she said.

"Analysis has been carried out on how viable this product will be and the construction of a biofuel mill is already underway in the village of Tabiang."
