Scottish buses switch up to B30 biofuel

Stagecoach buses in Scotland are cleaning up their act with a new blend of biofuel.

Some 530 buses and coaches in East Scotland area and almost 400 vehicles vehicles operating as part of the Stagecoach’s West Scotland business area are now using B30 fuel-a fuel blend consisting of 30 per cent biofuel and 70 per cent standard diesel.

These buses previously used a mix of 5 per cent biofuel, but after calculating that the new fuel could cut emission by up to 22 per cent, the company decided to switch to a higher biofuel blend.

Stagecoach Regional Director for Scotland Sam Greer said: “We are constantly striving to make our business more sustainable and we believe the introduction of this greener biofuel will make a real difference to our carbon footprint as a company.
