In Minnesota, Northwestern Wisconsin biodiesel producer Sunpower has opened its first biodiesel station in the state near Duluth. The station is the company’s second, with the first opened in its hometown of Cumberland, Wisc. earlier this summer with another set to open south of Cumberland next spring. The company farms 5,000 acres of canola across northern Wisconsin and buys some canola seed from Minnesota growers. During the summer the stations sell B99 but during the winter they sell B20 with some additives that makes it safe to operate vehicles when it’s -35F.
