Dubai’s police force will fuel buses with its own used cooking oil using technology developed by Lootah Biodiesel.
To coincide with World Environment Day celebration earlier this week, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, commander general of Dubai Police, has revealed that the police's environmentally friendly initiative will fuel its buses with biodiesel produced from used cooking oil.
Tamim said Lootah Biofuels had been instrumental in launching the initiative. Lootah has recently launched its own recycling used oil scheme which has been used to fuel its fleet of readymix cement trucka in Al Quoz. It also teamed up with food producer AL Islami to source the cooking oil used as a feedstock in the fuel.
