Primeira unidade de biodiesel em Toronto

(Notícia em Inglês)
In Canada, Energy Innovation plans to open the City of Toronto’s first biodiesel manufacturing facility in the port lands. Working with Invest Toronto and the property owner, Toronto Port Lands Company, Energy Innovation has selected an existing 8,600 square foot facility to produce market-ready biodiesel and meet the federal government’s renewable fuel target.

EIC manufactures its biodiesel from Ontario grown flax seeds and locally collected used coffee grounds. According to EIC’s website, flax oil becomes rancid and inedible when heated, so it has a very limited use, and that biodiesel from flax is better suited to cold winters than petro-diesel. Any part of the flax seed that cannot be used for biodiesel production can be utilized for animal feed.
