Houston-based National Clean Fuels said yesterday it is close to a deal to form a joint venture with a company building a biodiesel production plant in Washington DC.
The company has signed a letter of intent to enter into a joint venture with DC Biofuels, LLC, a subsidiary of Orlando-based energy investment & management firm Enova Energy.
The letter states the intention to secure a definitive agreement within 20 days.
DC Biofuels is currently developing a biodiesel plant in Washington that would produce five million gallons of biodiesel each year, which blended as a 20% proportion with regular diesel would be enough for 25 million gallons of B20 fuel.
The new plant is to use waste oils and fats from local restaurants, residents and industry to produce its biodiesel.
NACF signed an agreement to help fund and develop the Washington DC biodiesel project in June.
